FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Earlham College baseball team continued play during spring break with a loss to Lasell University, and a win over Gettysburg College.
TUESDAY: EARLHAM 5 LASELL 6
Kyle Jeffries started out on the mound on Tuesday with 4.1 innings pitched. The freshman allowed three hits with two earned runs, while scoring seven strikeouts.
Hans Carter came in for the final three innings with no hits and one walk.
Max Fries scored two hits with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Phoenix Guzzi recorded two hits including a double, and scored two runs.
Ian Bullis hit an RBI triple in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Lasell took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, but the Quakers tied the game in the bottom of the frame. Earlham then added a second run in the bottom of the fourth.
Lasell then scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning. Leading 4-2, Lasell scored two more runs in the top of the seventh inning. The Quakers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh before loading the bases. The Quakers then added their final run before stranding three runners.
WEDNESDAY: EARLHAM 13 GETTYSBURG 11
Dillon Bandi earned the win on Wednesday with 2.1 innings pitched. Guzzi then came in for a three-inning save with one hit and one strikeout.
On offense,
Quin Adelson went 2-for-4 with two doubles and five RBI.
Sean Jeffries brought home two RBI on a double, and scored three runs.
Gettysburg scored twice in the first inning, and the Quakers tallied one in the bottom of the frame. After the Bullets added one in the top of the second, Earlham had a five-run four-hit second inning.
Gettysburg then scored seven more runs by the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Quakers scored six runs on one hit in the bottom of the fourth. Earlham got four free bases to start the inning before the bases-clearing double by Adelson.
Earlham scored an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth inning on an error after a ball put in play by Fries. The Bullets then scored their final run on a double in the seventh inning.
Earlham concludes the spring break trip tomorrow at 10 am against Washington College.
