BATAVIA, Ohio – The Earlham College baseball team dropped a doubleheader at Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday afternoon.
GAME ONE: EARLHAM 6 MSJ 7
Phoenix Guzzi started game one on the mound, and threw six complete innings with four earned runs and three strikeouts. Guzzi left with a 5-4 lead for the Quakers.
Max Fries hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning.
Ian Bullis had a double and scored two runs.
Nate Whetstine hit a double for an RBI in the second inning.
GAME TWO: EARLHAM 2 MSJ 12 (7 Innings)
Kyle Jeffries tossed 4.2 innings in the start with five earned runs and three strikeouts.
Dillon Bandi scored two strikeouts in 1.2 innings out of the bullpen.
Quin Adelson brought in the only Quaker runs of the game with a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
Sean Jeffries went 2-for-3, and Guzzi knocked a double in game two.
The Quakers will continue conference play with a weekend series against Manchester University in Sadler Stadium. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6 pm.
