FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Earlham College softball team dropped a doubleheader at Franklin College on Saturday in HCAC competition.
GAME ONE: EARLHAM 1 FRANKLIN 12 (5 Innings)
Tatum Rickert started game one, and tossed three complete innings with 11 hits and three walks.
Michaela King threw one inning in relief with just one hit allowed.
Offensively,
Ashley Lewis went 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Keely Hubbard was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
Emmerie Stump also recorded one double.
The Quakers plated one run in the top of the third inning off of the double by Hubbard after two consecutive base hits by Lewis and
Nikki Alston.
GAME TWO: EARLHAM 4 FRANKLIN 6
Morgan Cooksey threw a complete six innings in game two with five earned runs and four strikeouts.
Lewis went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in left field.
Bo Shelton recorded two hits with a double and an RBI. Batting leadoff, Alston hit a double and scored one run.
Shelton brought home the first run of the game in the top of the first inning, and
Ariel Clarkston gave the Quakers the lead again in the top of the second with an RBI-single. The Grizzlies then scored five runs in the bottom of the second.
With four straight base hits to begin the top of the fourth inning, Earlham plated two runs on five hits, and left the bases loaded in the frame.
The Quakers host Denison University on Tuesday afternoon on Ellie Bewley Stadium starting at 3:30 pm. In the conference standings, Earlham is currently in seventh place, but just one game back from Mount St. Joseph in fifth place. The top six teams will make the conference tournament next month.
