RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College baseball team fell in the Quaker Bowl 9-7 against Wilmington College on Tuesday evening.
Phoenix Guzzi started on the mound and threw 4.1 innings with three earned runs and three strikeouts.
Braeden Lewis threw 4.2 innings out of the bullpen with four hits and two strikeouts.
Max Fries went 2-for-4 with two RBI, the senior had a long fly ball in the first inning that was caught all the way back on the warning track.
Jonathan Jimenez scored once, and had two RBI.
Sean Jeffries hit a lead-off triple, and scored twice with one RBI.
Wilmington took the lead on a two-run double in the top of the first inning.
Leading 3-2 Wilmington scored five runs on four hits and three errors in the top of the fifth frame.
Earlham rallied in the bottom of the eighth after loading the bases with no outs. Jimenez hit a two-run single to bring the score to 9-6. The Quakers added a final run in the bottom of the ninth.
The Quakers will continue conference play on Saturday at home against Transylvania University for Senior Day. First pitch is scheduled for 12 pm.
