GAMBIER, Ohio – The Earlham College softball team split a doubleheader at Kenyon College on Tuesday evening.
GAME ONE: EARLHAM 0 KENYON 8
Tatum Rickert started the game in the circle, and threw four innings with eight hits and four earned runs allowed. Rickert fanned five batters and walked just one.
Offensively, the Quakers recorded just two hits in the opener, with one each for
Ashley Lewis and
Malaya Tanglao.
GAME TWO: EARLHAM 10 KENYON 4
Morgan Cooksey pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts, and just two earned runs. Offensively, Cooksey hit a double, and scored one run.
Faith Butler went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Keely Hubbard hit a double, and brought in three RBI.
Nikki Alston scored three runs with one hit and one RBI.
Alston scored the first run of the game on a passed ball in the top of the second inning. The Owls then plated three runs in the bottom of the second.
Earlham scored six runs in the top of the third inning, with four hits and three errors in the frame.
Hubbard earned an RBI in the top of the fifth inning with a ball put in play to the infield.
Kylie Rayburn scored later in the inning on a wild pitch.
The Quakers executed a double steal in the top of the sixth inning to bring
Cierra James home for the final Quaker run of the game.
Earlham will be back in action in HCAC play on Thursday in Ellie Bewley Stadium. First pitch against Mount St. Joseph is scheduled for 4 pm.
