RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's soccer team fell to Spalding University 5-2 in Matlack-Messer Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Eagles noticed their first goal in the opening minute of play, taking advantage of the Quaker back line off the jump. Spalding also scored in the third minute of play after stealing a Quaker free kick in the back line.
The visitors scored their third goal of the contest in the 22nd minute of play, and led 3-0 at halftime.

Markku Laukkanen dumped off a pass to
Luke Hamakerjust outside the 18-yard box. Hamaker then drilled a shot to the left side of the Eagle goal for the first Quaker score in the 58th minute.
Laukkanen then added a second goal for the Quakers in the 64th minute unassisted after collecting a loose ball off of a free kick.
Spalding added its final goal in the 89th minute of play.
The Quakers will host Indiana University East on Saturday afternoon in Matlack-Messer. Kickoff is slated for 1 pm.
