RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College field hockey team returned from an hour-long lightning delay to score against Rhodes College in Darrell Beane Stadium.
Rhodes won the matchup 3-1 on the rainy afternoon.
Meredith McGraw got the first opportunity on goal of the game with a shot on goal in the 15th minute of play on a penalty corner.
The Lynx scored their first goal of the game in the 29th minute for a 1-0 lead at halftime.
With just under 14 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the game entered a weather delay for nearly an hour due to lightning.
Rhodes scored twice coming out of the break, but the Quakers responded in the final three minutes.
Beatrice Meeks inserted a penalty corner, with a shot by McGraw. The shot was deflected, and
Serenity Marce then laid off a pass back to Meeks for the goal.
The Quakers were outshot 18-3 on the day.
Ainsley Kemp collected five saves in goal. Meeks made one defensive save in the 51st minute.
Earlham continues NCAC play next weekend at Oberlin College at 11 am.
