CARMEL, Ind — On Monday, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the winners of the weekly Athlete of the Week award. This week, Makayla Hurey of Earlham College soccer was selected as Defensive Player of the Week by the conference. 

Hurey picked up her second clean sheet of the season on Wednesday in a 2-0 win over Muskingum University in Matlack-Messer Stadium. The senior broke the program record for career shutouts in the game, scoring her 12th. Hurey made two saves in the game. 

Earlham continues play on Wednesday against Albion College at 4 pm in Matlack-Messer.
