BEREA, Ky. – The Earlham College volleyball team opened conference play with a 3-1 win over Berea College on Saturday afternoon.
Anniyah Harrington scored 14 kills with just three errors, while scoring two blocks and 10 digs.
Caylee Brandes scored 14 kills with a .286 hitting percentage and one block.
Addison Piatt scored 12 kills with 20 digs and a team-high four aces.
Maddison Bizjak collected 21 digs in the Quaker back line.
Sydney Bleyle dished out 22 assists with four aces, and
Ava Walters led the team with 23 assists.
Earlham jumped out to a 14-3 lead in set one, before taking a 25-16 set win. Berea scored 14 kills, and committed just four attack errors as a team in set two for a .323 team hitting percentage. The Mountaineers took the set 25-21 with a 14-2 run in the frame.
The Quakers jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the third set before taking a 22-16 lead. Earlham scored 12 kills in the set with a 25-20 win. Berea scored six straight points to put ahead 13-10 in the fourth set, and took a 22-21 lead off of a service ace by Walters.
Berea tied the set at 22 before two straight points by the Quakers. Berea then scored twice to level the score at 24, and the teams traded a point before two straight Earlham points to win the set and the match.
The Quakers are set to continue action on Tuesday evening against Ohio Wesleyan University in Druley Performance Gym.
