RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College baseball team dropped a pair of games to Kalamazoo College on Saturday in Sadler Stadium.
GAME ONE: EARLHAM 0 KALAMAZOO 4
Hayden Scalf threw six innings of no-hit baseball to start game one. The junior allowed one baserunner through six innings, and finished the day with seven innings pitched, three hits and two earned runs with seven strikeouts.
Jonathan Jimenez scored the only hit of the game for Earlham with a single to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning. Jiminez also reached via a walk and stole one base.
The Hornets tallied two hits with an earned run in the top of the seventh inning, and capitalized on a leadoff single in the top of the eighth. The visitors added two runs in the ninth.
GAME TWO: EARLHAM 1 KALAMAZOO 12
Kyle Jeffries threw six complete innings with one hit and one earned run allowed. The sophomore scored six strikeouts with one walk in his second start of the season.
Offensively,
Noah Wagster went 2-for-3, and
Noah Rosato went 1-for-2 with a double.
Quin Adelson scored a hit and a run scored, and
Reece Zonts was credited with an RBI on a single.
The Quakers scored the first run of the game with an RBI single by Zonts in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Hornets scored an unearned run in the top of the sixth, and two unearned in the top of the seventh inning en route to a 4-1 lead. The visitors then recorded eight runs on six hits in the eighth inning, with three runners left on base.
The Quakers host Kalamazoo for game three tomorrow in Sadler Stadium at 12 pm.
