BREVARD, N.C. – The Earlham College men's lacrosse team picked up a 9-5 win over Brevard College over Spring Break.
Robbie Gift netted three goals with one assist off of 10 shots to lead the Quaker offense.
Elijah Gamber,
Giovanni Randazzo and
Izreal Santisteban all scored two goals.
Ethan Upton led the back line with five caused turnovers and six ground balls.
Elijah Adamson picked up seven ground balls.
Brady Shaw won seven faceoffs, and had three GBs.
Ryan Dolafi collected eight saves in his first collegiate win.
After Gamber scored the first goal of the game in the third minute of play, Brevard scored twice to lead 2-1 at the end of the first frame. Gift tied the score at 2-2 early in the second quarter, but Brevard scored twice to take a 4-2 lead. Gift added a second goal with 3:32 remaining in the half.
Trailing 4-3, Earlham held the Tornados scoreless in the third quarter. Earlham outshot Brevard 11-3 in the quarter. Gamber began the second half scoring with a goal with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter. Gift followed with a goal just 100 seconds later to take the lead 5-4. Randazzo got in on the action with a goal with 2:16 remaining in the frame, and continued the Earlham streak with the first goal of the fourth quarter.
Leading 7-4, Santisteban scored two goals in the final six minutes, while the Tornados got a consolation goal in the final seconds.
The Quakers went 15-15 on clears in the second half, and matched Brevard's shot total in the final two quarters.
