SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Earlham College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Wittenberg University on Saturday afternoon.
GAME ONE: EARLHAM 6 WITTERNBERG 0
Tatum Rickert tossed a complete game shutout with just two hits allowed.
Malaya Tanglao went 3-4 with one run scored and one RBI.
Keely Hubbard tallied two hits, two runs, one RBI and a triple.
Drew Tubesing hit her first collegiate home run with a solo shot in the third inning.
After a leadoff walk by
Ashley Lewis, Hubbard hit a triple down the left field line to put the Quakers on top. The inning continued with an RBI-single by Tanglao. Tubesing recorded her first RBI of the game with a ball in the infield, and the freshman catcher reached second on the play.
Faith Butler brought in the final run of the frame with an RBI-groundout.
Tubesing brought the Quaker lead to 5-0 with a solo homer to left field in the top of the third inning, and added the final run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
GAME TWO: Earlham 1 WITTENBERG 2
Morgan Cooksey went the distance for the fifth time this season, tossing six innings with five hits, two earned runs, and five strikeouts.
Bella Schatko went 1-3 with a double.
Caitlyn Brooks went 1-2 with the lone run scored.
Wittenberg began the first inning with a pair of singles, and capitalized with an RBI off of a flyout to right field. The Quakers struck back in the sixth inning after a leadoff walk by Brooks, and a score on a passed ball.
The Tigers scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning after a stolen base, and a Quaker error.
Earlham will be back in action on Wednesday against Wilmington College for the Quaker Bowl Rivalry Game. First pitch in the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 pm in Ellie Bewley Stadium.
