Baseball drops doubleheader at Hanover

HANOVER, Ind. – The Earlham College baseball team fell to Hanover College in an HCAC doubleheader on Monday.

GAME ONE: EARLHAM 4 HANOVER 17 (7 Innings)

Casey Blevins threw three innings in the game-one start with four strikeouts and five earned runs on six hits. Noah Wagster went 3-4 with a double and a run scored. Dylan Rieck hit his first collegiate home run with a solo shot in the fourth inning. 

Earlham scored in the top of the first inning with an RBI-single by Reece Zontz. The Panthers responded, and took control of the game in the bottom of the first with five runs on four hits. 

Jonathan Jimenez scored on a wild pitch to put the Quakers within striking distance with a 6-4 deficit in the fourth inning, but Hanover scored six runs off of three hits in the bottom of the frame. 

GAME TWO: EARLHAM 3 HANOVER 12

Cayman Huntsman started game two, and threw one inning with three earned runs. After throwing two innings against Rose-Hulman on Saturday, Garret Odey tossed 5.2 innings with two strikeouts and two earned runs on four hits. Mac Moore went 3-4 with a double, a steal, and two RBI.

Hanover scored five runs on four hits, including a two-run homer, in the bottom of the first inning. The hosts added three runs on two hits in the bottom of the second. With two outs in the top of the seventh, Wagster and Moore hit back-to-back RBI singles, and executed a double steal.

Earlham will be back in action on Saturday at Berea College to continue HCAC action with a doubleheader at the Mountaineers. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
