RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College softball team split a conference doubleheader with Anderson University on Saturday afternoon in Ellie Bewley Stadium.
GAME ONE: EARLHAM 6 ANDERSON 1
Tatum Rickert threw a complete game with one earned run on four hits and five strikeouts.
Emmerie Stump led the Quakers at the plate with two hits, one double, two RBI and two runs scored.
Ashley Lewis went 2-4 with one run and one RBI.
After
Keely Hubbard was hit by a pitch, Stump brought in the first run of the game with a double to deep right field in the first inning. Earlham then loaded the bases, and Stump came home on an infield ground ball by Mack Harvey.
Malaya Tanglao earned a leadoff walk in the bottom of the second inning, and came around on a wild pitch and an infield groundout. Tanglao then scored on a sacrifice bunt by Hubbard.
Lewis hit an outfield single to bring
Macie Ferguson home in the bottom of the fourth inning for a 4-0 Quaker lead.
Anderson scored one run on two hits in the top of the sixth inning after a leadoff double by the Ravens.
Earlham then responded with a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the sixth on three hits, including a leadoff double by Ferguson.
GAME TWO: EARLHAM 0 ANDERSON 3
Morgan Cooksey pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts. Tanglao led the Quakers at the plate with two hits.
The Ravens scored three runs in the top of the first inning off of three hits and two Quaker errors. After the blemish, Cooksey faced the minimum until a Raven hit in the top of the sixth inning.
Earlham continues conference action on Wednesday against Berea College in Ellie Bewley Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
