Baseball drops non-conference matchup at Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Earlham College baseball team took a 13-7 loss at Wabash College on Tuesday evening in non-conference action. 

Cayman Huntsman started out on the mound, and threw two innings with one strikeout and two earned runs. Hans Carter allowed just one hit over two innings of work, and Dillon Bandi scored two strikeouts in 1.2 innings. 

Noah Wagster went 2-4 with three runs, two steals, one RBI and one home run batting third for the first time as a Quaker. Mitchell Roether went 2-3 with two doubles, three RBI and two walks. 

Wagster put the Quakers ahead in the top of the first inning with a two-out solo homer to left field. The hosts then scored four runs on three hits and one error in the bottom of the opening frame. The Little Giants also scored two runs on three walks in the second inning. 

After a pair of singles to start the third inning by Brendon Gibson and Wagster, Roether hit a two-run double to center field. 

Wabash scored two runs on three hits and two errors in the bottom of the fifth inning to take an 8-3 lead. 

In the top of the seventh inning, Wagster stole second base, and caused a throwing error by the Wabash catcher, allowing Brock Loveall to take home on the play. Roether then hit his second double of the day to score Wagster for an 8-5 Wabash lead. 

The Little Giants put up two runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh.

Jonathan Jimenez scored an infield single with two runners on base in the top of the eighth for another Quaker run, and Wagster put a ball in play to score Loveall on an error. 

Wabash plated three runs on four hits in the bottom of the eighth inning. 

The Quakers host Ohio Wesleyan tomorrow in Sadler Stadium for more non-conference action. First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm.
