RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's soccer team battled crosstown rival IU East to a 2-2 draw in a rain-soaked Matlack-Messer Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Despite a 19-14 shot deficit, the Quakers led in corner kicks 10-3, and posted four shots on target.
Andre Moriel scored the opening goal of the match in the 23rd minute of play, with an assist by
Steven Lewis. The Red Wolves responded in the 26th minute with an equalizer.
IU East then scored in the 33rd minute, and led into the halftime break.
The Quakers took 10 shots in the second half, placing four on frame, and knotted the score back up at 2-2 after Masol Paul sunk a penalty kick goal into the lower-right corner of the goal in the 82nd minute.
Paul led the Quakers on the day with four shots, and two on frame.
Ryland Wamsley collected four saves in goal.
The Quakers host Wittenberg University on Tuesday for a 4 pm match in Matlack-Messer.
