Men's soccer falls in conference opener

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's soccer team opened conference play with a 1-0 loss to Manchester University in Matlack-Messer Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Rhoi Phulusa led the Quaker attack, taking three of the team's nine shots while placing two on goal. As a team, the Quakers were outshot 11-9, but Earlham placed three shots on goal to two from Manchester.

Ryland Wamsley collected one save in goal for a 50% save percentage.

After a scoreless first half, Manchester scored on a corner kick play in the 67th minute. The Spartan attacker collected the cross, and made a turning shot from the far corner of the penalty area to the far post past Wamsley.

Earlham travels to Anderson University to continue HCAC play next Saturday at 3:30 pm.
