SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Earlham College volleyball team fell to Wittenberg University 3-1 on Tuesday evening.
Caylee Brandes led the attack with 11 kills and a .226 hitting percentage.
Addison Piatt also scored 11 kills with 10 digs and two aces.
Ava Walters dished out 25 assists, while
Sydney Bleyle tallied 14 assists and one ace.
Maddison Bizjak led the back line with 24 digs. Anniyah Harrington brought in 18 digs with eight kills.
Trailing 10-5 in set one, Earlham rattled off eight straight points for a 13-10 lead. Later in the set, Wittenberg got hot with a 13-5 set-ending run. The Quakers posted 12 kills for their most efficient offensive frame of the night in set two, and scored a 7-0 run to lead 19-13 before putting the Tigers away in the frame.
Earlham tallied just seven kills in set three, with a .094 attack percentage leading to a 25-13 set loss. Earlham scored 14 kills in set four, and took a 23-22 lead before the Tigers capitalized on errors for the match win.
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action begins this Saturday at Berea College. First serve is scheduled for 2 pm.
