OLIVET, Mich. – The Earlham College tennis teams opened their spring slate with wins over the University of Olivet on Saturday.
The Earlham men picked up a 4-3 win over the Comets, and the women opened spring play with a 5-2 win.
Earlham newcomers Christos Xirkostas and
Ryan Fox jumped right into the action, picking up wins at No.1 and No.2 doubles respectively. Fox paired with freshman Fransisco Herrera who scored his first collegiate victory 6-3.
Dev Agrawal scored a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win at No.2 singles, while
Sanjil Magar clinched the match with a 7-5, 7-5 win at No.3 singles.
Paige Hobbs and
Mackenzie Davis controlled their match at No.1 doubles with a 6-2 win, while
Ava Marroni and
Natalee McCann as well as
Ella Flottman-Mullen and
Antonia Dean had to work with 7-6 wins at No.2 and No.3 doubles for a Quaker sweep.
The Quakers won the top four singles matches, with Dean picking up her first collegiate singles win with a 6-2, 6-1 result at No.4 singles.
The Quakers are slated to head to Brescia University and Kentucky Wesleyan College next weekend.
