RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's basketball team scored an 81-73 win over Bluffton University on Wednesday evening in Druley Performance Gym.
Four Quakers eclipsed double-digit points in the win, led by
Donovan Pruitt with 16 points and three assists.
Patrick Hardimon scored 12 points with three rebounds and one steal.
Chase Newton scored a career-high 11 points off of a 5-for-7 mark on field goals with four boards and two assists.
Tommy Reddick scored 10 points with three assists.
Noah Gathings led the Quakers with nine rebounds.
As a team, the Quakers shot over 50% on field goals with 35 bench points, while holding the Beavers to under 40% shooting.
With the score tied at 19 midway through the first half, Earlham went on a 14-0 run, scoring on four straight possessions to take a 33-21 lead. The Beavers closed the gap with an 8-2 run in the final five minutes, but Earlham carried a 39-31 lead into the halftime break.
Connor Smith hit a 3-pointer to put the Quakers up 49-38 after four minutes of action in the second half, and Bluffton responded with a 4-2 run. The Quakers scored four straight points to lead 66-52 with 6:40 remaining, and 68-54 with 5:45 remaining. Bluffton brought the lead within 10 with a 9-1 run with 3:43 remaining, but the Quakers responded with an 8-5 run.
Pruitt posted the final point of the game on a free throw with 55 seconds left.
The Quakers will be at home on Saturday to host Mount St. Joseph University at a revised time of 1:30 pm.
