WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Earlham College softball team split a pair of games on Tuesday evening in Florida.
GAME ONE: EARLHAM 0 KEAN 5
Shelby Messer started in the circle, and threw 3.2 innings with one earned run on four hits with one strikeout.
Tatum Rickert threw the final 3.1 innings with one earned run on six hits with one strikeout.
Emmerie Stump led the Quakers at the plate, going 3-4 on the afternoon.
A leadoff single came around to score in the top of the first inning, and Kean scored a second run in the top of the fifth. The Cougars scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning.
GAME TWO: EARLHAM 8 DESALES 0 (5 Innings)
Morgan Cooksey tossed a complete-game shutout with five innings, zero earned runs and three strikeouts.
Mack Harvey went 1-2 with a double and three RBI.
Three straight Quakers reached to open the first inning, setting up a three-run double by Harvey to give EC the lead.
Alana Smith then brought Harvey home on a sacrifice fly.
Earlham scored one run on two hits in a two-out rally in the third inning, with an RBI-single by
Tiffany Sowder to center field.
Jade Green led off the fourth inning with a single to center field, and scored after a bases-loaded walk by Harvey.
Malaya Tanglao brought home two runs on a single to left field.
The Quakers have tomorrow off, and continue play on Thursday at 10 am against Husson University.
