KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Earlham College men's and women's golf teams took advantage of spring break to open their spring season at the Island Pointe Intercollegiate, held at one of Tennessee's top-rated golf courses.
The tournament featured 18 men's and women's teams representing NAIA and NCAA Division III programs from nine states.
"It's a great experience for the players to compete against teams from across the eastern half of the country," said Head Coach
Matt Brown. "Mountain golf also presents a unique challenge, and the 20-plus mile-per-hour winds certainly added to the conditions."
Arthur Del Bourgo (Jr., Metz, France) and
Brileigh Quillen-Popejoy (So., Kokomo, Ind.) led the way for the Quakers. Del Bourgo carded a two-round total of 159 to finish 18th in the men's tournament, while Quillen-Popejoy posted a 194 to place 28th on the women's side.
The men return to action next weekend at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate in Terre Haute, Indiana. The women will compete next on April 3–4 at the Stateline Shootout in Harrison, Ohio.
