RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Earlham College men's tennis team faced a tough test on Saturday, falling 6-1 to defending HCAC Champs and no. 58 nationally Rose Hulman in conference play. Despite the final score, the Quakers showed fight in several matches throughout the lineup with several key players missing,
Earlham dropped the doubles point, with Rose-Hulman earning wins at all three positions to take early control of the match.
In singles play,
Ivan Wularu delivered the highlight of the day with an impressive comeback victory at No. 3. After dropping the first set, Wularu responded with a 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over Ervin Perkowski, a two-time First Team All-HCAC honoree (2024, 2025), showcasing resilience and high-level play against one of the conference's top competitors.
Several other matches were tightly contested, including a three-set battle from
Juan Diego Pachon Hernandez at No. 4 and a close match from
Zinedine Purbo at No. 5 that extended deep into the third set, ultimately Rose-Hulman was able to secure the remaining points.
The Quakers will look to build on the competitiveness shown across the lineup as they continue conference play heading into May.
