The Earlham College track and field team split its squad for two meets on Saturday in the final weekend before the HCAC Championship. The Quaker sprinters and jumpers went to Hamilton, Ohio for the Redhawk Invitational hosted by Miami University, while the distance runners and throwers competed in the Little State Championship hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.
Nyah Herbert ran a new PR time in both the 100 and 400 meter events, the sophomore posted a 13.82 in the 100, and a 1:01.91 in the 400. Herbert sits in 10th place in the HCAC in the 400 meter dash rankings.
Alex Ball posted a new personal best in the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters or 4' 9" in the meet. Ball ranks seventh in the HCAC standings heading into the conference meet.
Berkley Shelton tallied a new personal best in the discus throw of 30.24 meters.
Ian MacDonald and
Andre Moriel both set new bests in the men's 400 meter dash, clocking in at 54.53 and 54.56 respectively. The duo ranks 29th and 30th in the conference.
Connor Smith Smith threw 43.58 meters in the javelin to place seventh in the conference. Smith also cleared 1.65 meters for a new personal best in the high jump to sit in 16th place in the conference rankings.
The HCAC Championship meet is slated for next Friday and Saturday at Transylvania University.
