LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Earlham College track and field team capped off its season with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship meet hosted by Transylvania University over the weekend.
As a team, the Quaker women finished in sixth place with 45 points while the men finished in tenth place with 12.
Isa Slone won the women's long jump with a new personal best leap of 5.44 meters on her fourth jump of the day. Slone was named women's Jumper of the Year after the win.
Cleo Saltz scored a third-place finish in the women's 10,000 meter run with a finishing time of 39:46.65. Saltz also scored in the 5,000 meter run, placing fifth with a time of 19:00.30.
In her first season of competition,
Berkley Shelton scored a podium with a third-place finish in the javelin throw. Shelton tallied a throw of 33.80 meters for a new personal best. Shelton also scored in the discus throw with a mark of 32.91 to place eighth.
Alex Ball cleared 1.48 meters on her first attempt to finish in fourth place in the high jump.
Connor Smith placed sixth in the men's javelin throw, recording a mark of 47.61 meters in the event.
Tommy Reddick scored a fifth-place finish in the men's long jump after a leap of 6.79 meters.
Nyah Herbert ran a 1:00.69 in the 400 meter dash prelims to finish in sixth place and advance to the final. In Saturday's final, Herbert ran 1:01.27 to bring home a seventh-place finish.
Quakers wishing to continue their season will have the opportunity to compete at Mount St. Joseph University next weekend on Friday and Saturday.
