RICHMOND, Ky. – The Earlham College men's golf team wrapped up their season by competing in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship at Boone's Trace National Golf Club in Richmond, Kentucky.
The Quakers finished in 8th place with a score of an even 1000 – 334, 347, 319 in the three-day, 54-hole event. Transylvania University won the championship and will represent the conference in the NCAA Championship next week at Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida.
The squad was led by
Milan Nettl (So., Velp, Netherlands) who finished in 29th position with a score of +28. Ryan Beerhiede of Rose-Hulman won the individual title at –8 with a sterling final day performance of 65 (–7.) Seniors
Kyle Moore (Valencia, Calif.) and EJ Upton (West Chester, Ohio) concluded their collegiate careers by finishing in 39th and 40th place respectively.
"It was an eventful, emotional week," said Head Coach
Matt Brown. "Seeing the seniors hole their final putts was a bittersweet moment. Plus Milan and Hayden (Chalfant, (FY, Richmond, Ind.)) gained valuable experience competing in their first championship event."
The Quakers open the season next year at the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament in Marshall, Michigan on September 2-3. The new look squad will be anchored by 5 returners, including Nettl, Chalfant, and rising senior
Arthur Del Bourgo, plus seven first-years.
The women's golf team competes in their HCAC Championship this Friday – Sunday at the Anderson Country Club in Anderson, Ind.
