RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College volleyball team dropped a crosstown-matchup at IU East on Friday evening 3-0.
The Quakers were led on offense by freshman
Sadie Mae Calma with 12 kills and a .296 attack percentage. Calma also contributed nine assists and six digs.
Caylee Brandes swung .300 with nine kills and three blocks.
Emma Ledford led the setters with 17 assists and one ace.
Madison Bizjak collected a team-high 10 digs in the back row.
As a team, the Quakers scored 35 kills with a .200 attack percentage and five blocks.
Trailing 17-15 in set one, the Red Wolves went on a 10-4 run, including five straight points, to win the set. The hosts scored six kills and three aces in the run. Earlham trailed early in set two, but kept pace with the Red Wolves in the set before falling 25-21. IU East got out to its biggest lead of the night in set three with a 21-12 lead. Earlham fought back with a 7-3 run, but could not recover from the early deficit.
The Quakers will be back in action next Wednesday at Ohio Wesleyan University. First serve is scheduled for 7 pm.
