CHICAGO, Ill. – The Earlham College volleyball team continued play at the Rosalie Resch Invitational on Saturday with a pair of losses at University of Chicago.
MATCH ONE: EARLHAM 2 EDGEWOOD 3 (16-25, 25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 16-14)
Caylee Brandes led the Quaker offense with 16 kills, a .196 attack percentage, and one block.
Ciara Logan swung .267 with 12 kills.
Sadie Mae Calma scored 10 kills, dished out 12 assists and collected seven digs in the back line.
Emma Ledford led the setters with 23 assists and 12 digs. Madison Bizajk collected 22 digs to lead the Quaker back line.
The Quakers took the opening set, leaning on a .328 attack percentage while limiting the offense of the Eagles with only nine kills. Edgewood then won two straight frames with a combined 29 kills and 11 errors. The Quakers held Edgewood in check in the fourth frame before swinging -.147 in set five for a 16-14 loss.
MATCH TWO: EARLHAM 0 CONCORDIA WISCONSIN 3 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20)
Brandes put up another big match to end the tournament with 14 kills, a .345 attack percentage and one block. Logan swung .227 with 11 kills. Ledford led the setters with 16 assists while Calma dished out 14.
Bizjak led the back row with 18 digs.
As a team, the Quakers scored 38 kills with a .184 attack percentage.
Earlham will be back on the court on Tuesday at Heidelberg University. First serve is scheduled for 7 pm in Tiffin, Ohio.
