Quakers Fall to Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio The Earlham College field hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to the College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon.

The Scots (11-5, 7-2) scored four times in the first half and added their final goal in the second period.

Kate Birdsall got Earlham on the scoreboard with her sixth goal of the season at 57:51 with Cassie Gage assisting on the play.

The same duo hooked up for Earlham's last score of the contest with Gage finding the goal at 67:07. It was Gage's 13th goal of the fall and Birdsall picked up the assist.

Gage continues to close in on Earlham's all-time records. She is second on list with 86 points with 36 goals. Margaret Kerrick (1983-86) holds the school records in goals with 42 and points with 89.

Wooster led 13-7 in shots, while Earlham finished on top in penalty corners 8-7. Goalkeeper Emma Treece had nine saves for the Quakers.

The Quakers (4-7, 1-7) face Wittenberg University at home on Wednesday. The NCAC contest on Comstock Field begins at 4 p.m.
