RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Sunday as the Quakers finished their fall season.
Franklin College defeated Earlham 5-4 on the EC Courts before the Quakers bounced back with a 5-4 win over
Goshen College.
Against
Goshen, the Quakers won two matches in doubles and took three singles contests.
Henry Levin and
Mike Von Vogt won 8-5 over Aaron Sutter and Joel King at No. 1 doubles. At No. 3,
Aaron Weeden and
Josue Rivera defeated Benjamin Basnet and Daniel Buschert 8-1.
In singles, Levin beat Sutter 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1.
Brad Maisey upended King 7-5, 0-6, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 2. Rivera picked up the other win by defeating Buschert 6-2, 6-7 (7-5), 1-0 (10-8).
In the
Franklin match, the Quakers had one win in doubles with three victories in singles.
Levin and Von Vogt beat Justin Moran and Matt Hamm 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Levin beat
Hamm 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Maisey won 6-0, 6-4 over Nate Kelly at No. 2.
Johnny Kauffman defeated Jordan Moran 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 5.
Earlham ends the fall at 3-1. The Quakers are scheduled to resume play in 2010 against Franklin at a neutral site on Feb. 6.
