LEXINGTON, Ky. — The
Earlham College field hockey team had its season come to an end on Monday night with a 3-2 overtime loss at
Transylvania University.
Transylvania (2-11) scored a pair of goals in the opening period to lead 2-0 at intermission.
Earlham responded to tie the match at 2-2 in the second stanza.
In the final match of her career,
Nicole VanScyoc had an unassisted goal at 61:42 for her third score of the season.
Cassie Gage followed with her 16th goal to the year to tie the match. With the unassisted goal, Gage finishes her career on top of Earlham's all-time scoring list with 92 points. Gage has 39 goals and 14 assists.
With the match tied after regulation,
Transylvania won the non-conference contest at 74:14 in the first overtime.
Transylvania led 12-11 in shots, while the Quakers had a 9-5 advantage in penalty corners. Goalkeeper
Emma Treece had nine saves for Earlham.
The Quakers finish the fall with an overall record of 4-12.
