RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College field hockey squad dropped a 7-2 decision Saturday afternoon to the
College of Wooster on Comstock Field.
The Quakers scored the first goal of the North Coast Athletic Conference match at 10:00 when
Kate Birdsall picked up her third tally of the season with an assist from
Cassie Gage.
After
Wooster tied the match at 1-1 six minutes later, Gage responded to give the Quakers a 2-1 lead at 22:37. It was her second goal of the fall.
Unfortunately for the Quakers,
Wooster (5-0, 3-0) added three goals by intermission to lead 4-2 at the break. In the second half, the Scots scored three times to remain unbeaten.
Wooster led 29-14 in shots and 7-4 in penalty corners. Earlham goalkeeper
Emma Treece had 11 saves, while
Abby Rockefellerhad a pair of defensive saves.
Christine Ferguson also had a defensive save.
Earlham (2-2, 0-2) faces
Denison University at home on Friday. The NCAC contest is at 4:30 p.m.
