SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Earlham College field hockey squad played at Wittenberg University on Tuesday night.
The North Coast Athletic Conference match was won by the Tigers 9-0.
Wittenberg (13-3, 10-1), the leaders in the NCAC, was on top 2-0 at intermission.
"That was the best half we have played all year," Earlham Head Coach Jill Butcher said. "We played great match-up defense.
"We controlled the middle and did an excellent job of covering for each other," Butcher added. "In the second half, we stopped winning the battles up the middle and a little fatigue set in. Overall, I was proud of the team for the first half that we played. I saw some things that makes me hopeful for the future."
Earlham goalkeeper
Emma Treece (Kettering, OH, Kettering Fairmont) had 13 saves for the Quakers.
Rhea Bovee (Lindhurst, IL, Lake Forest) and
Daniela Umana (Santa Teda, El Salvador, UWC Pearson) each had a defensive save.
The Quakers (2-14, 0-11) finish the season on Saturday at the College of Wooster. The NCAC contest starts at 5 p.m.
