RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College field hockey team won its second match in a row on Saturday as the Quakers posted a 2-1 victory over Transylvania University on Comstock Field.
The Pioneers (0-1) took an early lead with a goal at 6:58 and held the advantage until late in the period.
Earlham's
Kate Birdsall tied the match with a score at 34:24.
Christine Ferguson had an assist on the play.
In the second half, the Quakers scored the game-winner when
Emilia Asante found the goal at 57:57.
The Quakers had a 6-5 edge in penalty corners, while
Transylvania led 6-3 in shots.
Emma Treece had three saves for the Quakers.
Earlham (2-0) goes on the road for the first time Wednesday as the Quakers visit
Ohio Wesleyan University. The North Coast Athletic Conference contest begins at 4:30 p.m. p.m.
