Winning Streak Comes to an End

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College baseball team had its three-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night as the Quakers fell to Bluffton University 15-3.

The Beavers grabbed an early 3-0 in the first inning of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on John Cate Field at McBride Stadium

Bluffton (10-16, 2-9) added six more runs in the third and eventually led 14-0 before the Quakers got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth.

Chris Miller (Topeka, IN, Westview) began the frame for the Quakers with an infield single. Ross Yoho (Plainfield, IN, Plainfield)reached on a fielder's choice with Miller out at second.

Taylor Gibson (Cumberland, IN, Mt. Vernon) followed with a single to third base. Tyler Schroeder (Richmond, IN, Richmond) brought home Earlham's first run with a double.

Ryan McCray (Lexington, KY, Henry Clay) and Ted Williams (Harper Woods, MI, Grosse Pointe North) both had run-scoring singles to left field to finish the rally.

Bluffton ended the scoring with a run in the ninth.

Schroeder led the Quakers with two hits.

Earlham starting pitcher Zach Lee (Lynn, IN, Randolph Southern) took the loss to fall to 2-3 after exiting the contest in the third inning.

The Quakers (11-13, 4-7) visit Manchester College on Saturday for a HCAC doubleheader. The first game gets underway at noon.
