Late Score Hurts Quakers

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — A late second-half goal was the difference on Saturday as the Earlham College field hockey squad fell 2-1 to Oberlin College.

The winning score for Oberlin in the North Coast Athletic Conference match came at 59:45.

Oberlin (2-3, 1-2) grabbed an early lead in the Homecoming contest on Comstock Field with a goal at 21:26 as the Quakers celebrated Homecoming.

Diana Ainembabazi (Kampala, Uganda, Li Po Chun UWC) tied the match with an unassisted goal for the Quakers early in the second period at 37:56.

Oberlin had an 18-15 edge in total shots, but the Quakers led 14-9 in shots on goal. The penalty corners were even at 10 each.

Earlham goalkeeper Emma Treece (Kettering, OH, Kettering Fairmont) had nine saves for the Quakers.

The Quakers (1-4, 0-3) are on the road for the first time this season on Friday at Kenyon College. The NCAC affair gets underway at 4:30 p.m.
