Three Players Make All-Tournament Team as Quakers Finish Second in Kookaburra Classic

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — A pair of scores in the second half made the difference Saturday afternoon as the Earlham College field hockey finished second in the Kookaburra Classic.

Transylvania captured the tournament championship with a 2-0 win over the Quakers on Comstock Field. St. Vincent College defeated Trine University 2-0 earlier in the day during the consolation match.

"For the first year of the tournament, it was a success," Earlham Head Coach Jill Butcher said. "All of the teams want to come back next year and we had a great sponsor."

As far as the match against Transylvania was concerned Butcher was hoping for a little bit more success.

"I feel like we just were not connecting well," she said. "We just seemed a little slow and we need to get more aggressive."

Transylvania had a 14-7 edge in shots and 10-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Earlham goalkeeper Emma Treece (Kettering, OH, Kettering Fairmont) had 10 saves for the Quakers.

The Quakers (1-1) are back on Comstock Field Wednesday against Wittenberg University. The North Coast Athletic Conference affair gets underway at 5 p.m.
