ANDERSON, Ind. — The Earlham College men's tennis team picked up another win on Saturday as the Quakers defeated Anderson University 5-0.
The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match was moved indoors and played to decision. Earlham is now 16-1 overall and has 13 straight victories, while maintaining the top spot in the conference with an 8-0 mark.
Earlham can claim the outright regular season HCAC Championship with a win on Wednesday as the Quakers entertain second-place Transylvania University (8-4, 6-0) at 4 p.m. It would be the second straight HCAC crown for the Quakers, who shared the regular season title with Transylvania last year.
After sweeping the doubles competition against the Ravens (3-7, 3-4), the Quakers only needed a pair of wins in singles to take the victory.
At No. 1 doubles,
Hank Levin (Dallas, TX, Highland Park) and
Anton Bartashevich (Moscow, Russia, International) defeated Drew Lovern and Brock Bell 8-2.
Brad Maisey (Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, Tauranga Boys) and
Andrey Gavrilov (Yaroslavl, Russia, Universal) teamed up to beat Fede Bosciani and Adam Milikan 8-4 at No. 2.
Nabil Parkar (London, England, International) and
Brent Kramer (Greenfield, IN, Eastern Hancock) took care of Logan Hendrickson and Kodee McIntosh 8-5 at No. 3 to complete the sweep.
In singles action, Bartashevich won 6-1, 6-1 over Lovern at No. 1, while Gavrilov defeated Bell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2.
