RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's tennis team kept rolling along on Saturday as the Quakers blanked Bluffton University 9-0 in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match.
The Quakers (12-1, 5-0) now have nine victories in a row, which equals last year's top winning streak.
The leaders of the HCAC with five straight wins, Earlham swept the doubles competition from the Beavers (0-5, 0-2).
Andrey Gavrilov (Yaroslavl, Russia, Universal) and
Brad Maisey (Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, Tauranga Boys) defeated Matt Weisenborn and Jaden August 8-1 at No. 1.
Scott Lawrence (Letchworth, England, Cheam) and
Nabil Parkar (London, England, International) won 8-3 over Matt McCoy and Nate Stroud at No. 2.
David Bluestein (Durham, NH, Buxton School) and
Brent Kramer (Greenfield, IN, Eastern Hancock) took care of John Oyer and Brock Goetz by an 8-2 score at No. 3.
In singles action,
Hank Levin (Dallas, TX, Highland Park) beat Weisenborn 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1, while
Anton Bartashevich (Moscow, Russia, International) defeated Stroud 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.
At No. 3, Lawrence won 6-1, 6-1 over August as
Shin Torizuka (Itabashi-ku Tokyo, Japan, International) beat McCoy 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4.
Parkar posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Oyer at No. 5.
Gus Schuerger (Dallas, TX, Woodrow Wilson) defeated Goetz 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
Earlham is back in action on Wednesday at Hanover College. The HCAC affair begins at 4:30 p.m.
