RICHMOND, Ind. â€" The Earlham College women's tennis team picked up an 8-1 win over Defiance College on Wednesday.
Earlham had a 3-0 lead after the doubles action. Olivia Engle and Claire Welsh blanked Tasha Brown and Nicole Tank 8-0 at No. 1, while Jessica Childs and Annie Foley beat Savannah Marquez and Haley Kuhlman 9-7 in the second position. The Quakers picked up a forfeit at No. 3.
In singles play, Olivia Engle took care of Brown 6-0, 6-0 in the top spot.
Childs defeated Marquez 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. At No. 3, Foley won 6-3, 6-2 over Tank.
In the fifth position, Jordyn Grimes beat Kayla Miller 6-0, 6-0. Earlham won by forfeit at No. 6.
The Quakers (4-6, 2-5) finish the regular season at home next Wednesday against Anderson University. The HCAC match gets underway at 4 p.m.
