The Pioneers scored their final run in the ninth. Broach (0-2) tossed a complete game as he surrendered four runs (three earned) on eight hits with a pair of strikeouts.

The Quakers fell behind 5-0 after four innings in the second game.

With four runs in the sixth, Earlham tied the game at 5-5. Hayes knocked in the first two runs with a single. The other two runs scored on a wild pitch and an error.

The game remained tied until the 11th inning when the Pioneers scored what turned out to be the winning run.
