RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's tennis team maintained its lead in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Sunday as the Quakers defeated Anderson University 9-0.
Ranked No. 10 in the latest ITA Central Region poll, Earlham is 15-2 overall and 7-0 in the conference.
The Quakers began Saturday's contest by sweeping the doubles competition from the Ravens (2-5, 2-3).
Anton Bartashevich (Moscow, Russia, International) and
Jack Ventura-Cruess (Placentia, CA, El Dorado) blanked Drew Lovern and Connor Whiteside 8-0 at No. 1.
In the No. 2 spot,
Kyle Richter (Fremont, CA, Mission San Jose, UC-Santa Cruz) and
Phillip Locklear (Springboro, OH, Springboro) defeated Brock Bell and Kyle Templeton 8-1.
Brad Maisey (Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, Tauranga Boys) and
Scott Lawrence (Letchworth, England, Cheam) won 8-2 over Adam Millikan and Ethan Hillman at No. 3.
In singles action, Bartashevich beat Lovern 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1. Locklear posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Whiteside at No. 2.
At No. 3, Richter took care of Bell 6-0, 6-1. Ventura-Cruess beat Templeton 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4.
Maisey won 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 5 position over Millikan.
Brent Kramer (Greenfield, IN, Eastern Hancock) defeated Hillman 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.
Earlham entertains Indiana University-East on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
