Quakers Beat Bethany

BETHANY, W. Va. — Megan Hut and Kaitlyn Brunner scored two goals each as the Earlham College field hockey team defeated Bethany College 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Hut scored the first goal of the non-conference contest at 27:42 before Brunner followed to give the Quakers a 2-0 at 29:39.

In the second period, the Bison (4-10) scored at 46:28 to cut their deficit in half.

The Quakers responded with two more goals to put the match away. Hut converted on a penalty stroke at 48:54 to make it 3-1. Brunner picked up the final goal with an assist from Hut at 65:52.

For the season, Hut leads the Quakers with six goals and three assists for 15 points. Brunner is next with five goals and a pair of assists for 12 points.

On Sunday, Bethany had a 17-10 advantage in shots, while the Quakers led 12-8 in penalty corners.

Earlham goalkeeper Brynna Foreman had three saves for the Quakers. Tara Burns and Sam Bielanski each had defensive saves for the Quakers.

The Quakers (1-17, 0-13) finish the season on Thursday at Ohio Wesleyan University. The North Coast Athletic Conference match is at 4:30 p.m.
