Box Score

NORFOLK, Va. — The Earlham College baseball team had its eight-game winning streak snapped on Sunday as the Quakers fell 7-2 to Virginia Wesleyan College.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled due to weather.

The Quakers began the afternoon with a quick advantage with a pair of runs in the first inning.

Thomas Rea and Alex Arovits each had run-scoring singles to put the Quakers on top 2-0.

Earlham starter Nate Hube held the Marlins (6-12) without a hit until a bunt single with one out in the fourth inning.

From that point, the Marlins scored four times against Hube (2-1) in the frame with only one run being earned as he took the loss. They added two more runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to end the scoring.

Rea led the Quakers with three hits, while Arovits finished with two hits. Josh Parr had Earlham's other hit.

Earlham (8-3) is at North Carolina Wesleyan College on Monday for the first contest in a two-game series at 3 p.m. The second game is slated for Tuesday.
