CARMEL, Ind. – On Wednesday, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2026 all-conference teams and special awards for the baseball season. In total, 12 Quakers were included in the awards.
Head Coach
Steve Sakosits was named Coach of the Year after leading the Quakers to the top seed in the conference tournament with an 18-4 conference record. The Quakers also set program records this year, including the team record with 43 home runs. The 26 overall wins are the most in a season for the Quakers since winning the HCAC Championship in 2022. Sakosits also scored his 300th career win this season, after a 4-2 win over Franciscan over Spring Break.
Mitchell Roether was listed on the first team after leading the Quakers in most metrics at the plate. Roether hit .376 with nine home runs, 45 RBI and 84 total bases to lead the Quakers in all fields. The senior also had 10 doubles with an OPS of 1.201 while having a .981 fielding percentage at first base. Roether also tied the career home runs record this season with 26 career long balls. Roether ranks second in the conference in RBI, third in home runs and first in on-base percentage.
Chris Barnett earned first team honors as a freshman after starting at shortstop this season. Barnett hit .343 with seven doubles, two triples and one home run against Wabash. The freshman tallied 18 RBI and 32 runs scored in 33 games of action. Defensively, Barnett has a .943 fielding percentage with 15 double plays.
Casey Blevins earned a spot on the first team as a starting pitcher in the Quaker rotation. Blevins started eight games with a 3.47 ERA. The sophomore tallied 46.2 innings with a 4-1 record and one save. Blevins went the distance twice, and scored 30 strikeouts.
Cayman Huntsman led the Quakers with 11 starts this season, posting a 4-2 record with 57 innings pitched. Huntsman tallied two complete games, and two shutouts with a team-high 54 strikeouts. The junior also led the Quaker rotation with a 2.68 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP.
Noah Wagster landed on the first team as an outfielder after spending two seasons in the infield. Wagster posted a .358 batting average with four doubles, one triple and four home runs. The junior tallied 23 runs with 28 RBI and 56 total bases. On the basepath, Wagster swiped a team-high 25 bags, and was only thrown out twice all season. Defensively, Wagster has a .939 fielding percentage with five outfield assists.
Jackson McFarland was named to the second team in his first season with the Quakers. McFarland tied for the team lead in home runs with nine, tallying 34 RBI and 25 runs scored. McFarland hit to a .309 average with three doubles.
Another newcomer,
Austin Dick, also placed on the second team. Dick posted a .337 batting average with three doubles, four triples, two home runs and 21 RBI. The redshirt freshman scored 30 runs, and went 22-23 on stolen base attempts.
Earlham catcher
Dylan Rieck was named to the second team with a .302 average, six doubles, one triple and five home runs. The sophomore scored 22 runs with 19 RBI and 49 total bases. Rieck also started 29 games at catcher, tallying 151 putouts and a .975 fielding percentage.
Hayden Scalf was the most valuable arm out of the bullpen this season, tossing 30.2 innings in relief with three saves. Scalf allowed a 2.64 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with a 4-1 record and 30 strikeouts across 16 appearances.
Sean Jeffries rounded out the second team honorees for the Quakers with a nod at second base. Jeffries hit .319 this season with 13 doubles, five triples and two home runs. The senior broke the career triples record with 13 so far. He scored 43 runs with 34 RBI and 75 total bases this season. On the bases, Jeffires went 19-20 on steals.
Jonathan Jimenez was named an honorable mention as an outfielder for his senior season. Jimenez hit .282 with nine doubles, three triples and four home runs. The center fielder scored a team-high 45 runs with 58 RBI, and stole 24 bases while only being thrown out once.
The Quakers head into this weekend's HCAC Tournament as the No.1 seed after winning regular season Co-Champs. Earlham is slated to play its first tournament game tomorrow at 4:30 pm in Kokomo against the lowest remaining seed after the morning's games.
