EC Beats Capital

DAYTON, Ohio â€" The Earlham College men's tennis team evened its season record on Sunday with a 7-2 win over Capital University.

Now 2-2, the Quakers led 3-0 after the doubles action indoors at the Dayton Center Courts against the Crusaders (2-4).

Jack Ventura-Cruess and Anton Bartashevich defeated Dale Booher and Luke Buchanan 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.

In the second position, Scott Lawrence and Andrey Gavrilov won 8-4 over Spencer Walter and Beau Streety.

Phillip Locklear and David Bluestein completed the sweep with an 8-3 victory over G.C. DiMichelangelo and Jared Judson at No. 3.

In the singles competition, Locklear beat Buchanan 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1, while Bartashevich took care of Walter 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2.

At No. 3, Ventura-Cruess defeated Booher 6-3, 6-1. Bluestein beat DiMichelangelo 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5.

Earlham returns to action on Friday against Manchester University at an indoor facility in Warsaw, Ind. The Heartland Collegiate Conference match hosted by the Spartans gets underway at 5 p.m.
