Earlham Beats Wilmington

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College baseball team got back on track on Wednesday as the Quakers beat Wilmington College 4-2 in Randal R. Sadler Stadium.

Earlham starting pitcher Kyle Agius picked up his first collegiate victory as he worked into the ninth inning. T. J. Plummer whiffed the final batter of the game to earn his fourth save of the season and Earlham record 11th of his career.

Agius gave up two runs with one being earned on five hits with 10 strikeouts.

Earlham scored twice in the first to grab an early advantage as Ted Williams and Ryan Hayes had back-to-back RBI singles.

Wilmington (3-26) picked up a run in the second inning, but the Earlham answered in the third with two more runs.

The Williams and Hayes duo again combined to knock in runs with singles. Wilmington scored the last run of the contest in the fourth to make it 4-2.

Williams now has an Earlham career record of 108 RBIs. Hayes in fourth on the all-time list with 95.

Williams and Hayes led Earlham with three hits each, while Nate Lynch added two hits.

The Quakers (19-14, 10-9 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) are back on the field

Saturday at home against Manchester University. The first game of the HCAC doubleheader starts at noon.
