Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Senior Torey Posey and junior Kaitlyn Brunner scored 50 seconds apart, but the Tigers from Wittenberg University held home field by edging the Quakers 5-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition on Friday.
The Tigers scored the game's first four goals, and looked to take a commanding lead into halftime. Earlham had other ideas, however, as Posey scored at the 32:13 mark on an assist from junior Megan Hut and Kaitlyn Brunner used a pass from Maite Turlings to beat Wittenberg goalkeeper Sarah Brownell with 1:57 to play in the first half.
Wittenberg's Audrey Coler scored her second goal of the game in the 42nd minute, which proved to be the only second-half goal for either squad.
Senior goalkeeper Kate Korobkina took the loss, but made 15 saves in all 70 minutes in net.
Earlham (3-5, 2-4 NCAC) has a quick turnaround as the Quakers host Bethany (W.Va.) at Darrell Beane Stadium tomorrow (Saturday). The game is slated to begin at noon.
