INDIANAPOLIS â€" The Earlham College men's tennis team will get a chance to play for a fifth straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title.
The Quakers advanced to Sunday's championship match with a 5-3 win over Franklin College at the West Indy Racquet Club.
Now winners of six in a row, Earlham (11-9) faces the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (12-5) for the HCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament at 10 a.m. The Engineers defeated Transylvania University 5-1 to move on to the finals.
Earlham led 2-1 after the doubles matches.
Vitalii Stadnyk and Jack Ventura-Cruess won 8-5 over Alex Hammer and Ryan Hammer at No. 1. At No. 2, Gleb Babikov and Vojislav Tatarevic defeated Ethan Caldwell and Luke Snyder 8-2.
In singles, Babikov beat Caldwell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2.
Ventura-Cruess took care of Alex Hammer 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3.
At No. 4, Tatarevic posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Snyder.
