Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. – Reigning North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Field Hockey Player of the Week Megan Hut fired three shots against Sewanee, but the Tigers goalkeeper Katya Waters was up to the challenge as the visiting Tigers defeated the Earlham College field hockey team 3-0 at Darrell Beane Stadium on Sunday.
Sewanee (4-0) opened the scoring when Virginia Barry scored off of a penalty corner at the 21:38 mark of the first half. The Tigers added a second goal two and a half minutes into the second half and netted the game' final goal at the 65:53 mark.
Along with Hut's three shots, junior Kaitlyn Brunner took two shots to account for Earlham's five team shots. Sewanee finished the game will 11 shots.
Sewanee earned eight penalty corners in the game compared to seven for the Quakers. Earlham did, however, hold a 6-4 advantage in the second half.
Earlham drops to 1-3 on the season with the loss. The Quakers return to NCAC play on Sept. 19 against Oberlin at Darrell Beane Stadium. The game is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
